Penny From Heaven by Jennifer Holm
Fortunately, Penny has her deceased father's siblings, cousins, mothers, nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles to spoil her, feed her, and employ her in the family store. They're a large, Italian-American family with lots of love, food, kids and quarrels. But the Faluccis have something in common with Penny's other family--they won't tell her the secret about her father's death. Everyone--from her mom's family to her father's--gives Penny a vague answer: Penny's father died in a hospital.
Penny spends her summer hanging out, playing baseball, and delivering groceries with her cousin and best friend, Frankie, a twelve-year-old boy on the verge of real trouble with the law. She's having a good time until something dramatic happens. Her mother begins dating. And not just anybody...She begins dating Mr. Mulligan, the milkman.

Millions by Frank Cottrell Boyce
It was just one sack of a number of sacks of money strategically stolen and hidden by bank robbers. One of them was supposed to pick up the bag that young Damian found, and quickly begins to follow the young boy in order to get his money back. All of this is done without Damian's father knowing about this until one day at school, Damian makes a rather large contribution to a fund for poor children. The lady who is collecting the donations (Daisy Donovan), falls not only for the boy's giving heart but for his father as well.

Gary Paulsen by Edith Hope Fine
the foxman by gary paulsen
While staying with his new family, the boy will see what it's like to do some pretty tough chores, he'll hear many unfunny war stories, and try to fit in with the people he now has to share a house with. But all of those things pale in comparison to meeting and befriending the Foxman. This 'Foxman' isn't your typical, everyday person; something bad happened to him years ago, and he doesn't choose to be anywhere near society, but there's something about the boy's company that changes him.

Brian's Return by gary paulsen
Brian from Hatchet... the hard life of being stuck in wilderness with only a hatchet bacame a habit. Brian loved the way of hunting and fishing and trying to find his own way of life. he enjoys doing everything that he has done many times before. now when he went back to school and back to his friends and real life. he now reaized that all that he have came back to was just a thing he never wanted to do. being stranded in the widerness is where he found his intrest and now he wants to go back and do it again so he can find his place in life. he wants to exspirience everything over again.
i think brian s one of the bravest characters becuse he has the guts to do anything. he isnt ever scared of living all by himself and do all things that most people do for you, for yourself.
the river by gary paulsen
the river is another book about Brian... the thirteen year old boy in "hatchet". Now since he is back from his long 54 days in the great outdoors with only a hatchet. Now since he is back, the government wants him to go back and do the same thing all over again so astronauts and the military can copy the same things he did so they will know how he stayed alive. He would go with a government psychologist, Derek.
When both Derek and Brian go to do the same thing again, a storm hits the wilderness. the lightning hit Derek and now he is stuck in a coma. Brian has nothing else to do an he is stuck in the same situation he was in way before. He has no way to conntact anyone because the radio derek was holding when he got struck is now broken. When Brian thought about it for a while and he suddenly realized that the only thing he could do was build a raft and go down a river that would have to be 100 miles long.

love, stargirl
At the late beginning of the book she meets a girl named dootsie and it turns out that dootsie is about 10 years younger than her but still seems to have a fun time hanging out with her. to me, she kind of seems like a babysitter for dootsie. they do mostly everything together which sometimes can be very annoying.
Stargirl is smart and uneasy person. she knows how to say how she feels most of the time. she is home schooled, so she doesn't make much friends. Stargirl is mostly called as a "outcast" because of the way she dresses and acts around people so the book tells a lot about how you can not judge a person from how they look on the outside. i think that this might be the theme because on the outside she looks like she would be weird and unfriendly but really she is the complete opposite.
